Tasting notes
Derived from soils rich in clays with a high internal surface area toward the top of the slope in Avize, Agrapart's 2012 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Avizoise was disgorged in May 2019 with three grams per liter dosage after aging sur lattes under natural cork. Bursting with aromas of waxy citrus rind, beeswax, Anjou pear, white flowers and nutmeg, it's full-bodied, broad and powerful, with considerable concentration and chalky structuring extract, girdled by ripe but racy acids and concluding with a long, expansive finish. Reflecting the concentrated, powerful vintage, this is an especially muscular Avizoise.

The 2012 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru L’Avizoise is another riveting wine from Pascal Agrapart. Here, too, the interplay of textural richness and finesse is utterly captivating. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint and orchard fruit all develop, but it is the wine's feel and stunning balance that make it impossible to resist a second taste, and then a third. L'Avizoise emerges from old vine parcels in the Robards and Voie d'Epernay lieux-dits. In a word: exceptional! Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: July 2018.
