Tasting notes
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Steltzner Vineyard emerges from a handful of rows within the Corner Block of this historic Stags Leap site. Black cherry, plum, lavender, menthol, sage and chocolate notes are all generous in this supple, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon from Myriad that will drink nicely with minimal cellaring.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Steltzner Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is deep purple-black colored and delivers powerful, savory scents of chargrill, tapenade, beef drippings and sautéed herbs over a profound core of crème de cassis, preserved plums and spice cake with suggestions of underbrush, wood smoke and yeast extract. Full-bodied, rich and muscular in the mouth, it has loads of tightly wound savory and black fruit layers with a very firm foundation of grainy tannins and uplifting freshness, finishing very long and meaty.
Coming all from the Martini clone and raised in 100% new French oak, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Steltzner Vineyard is a rich, powerful expression of Stags Leap that offers full-bodied notes of blackcurrants, espresso roast, black licorice, and just a hint of flowers. This concentrated, yet incredibly pure, Cabernet has a great mid-palate, sweet tannins, and some obvious oak to integrate. It's an extraordinary wine yet is still primordial and in need of a good 3-4 years of bottle age. 98 cases.
