Full bottle 1,365 g. Deep, bright, glowing gold. Slightly oily on the nose and much richer and more evolved than the David & Nadia Hoë-Steen 2021 tasted alongside. Lovely lime notes on the end. (JR)

Full bottle 1,352 g. Made from dryland bushvines planted in 1960. Fermented spontaneously in old French oak. 5 barrels made. Deep straw colour. Nose already oxidised. Good fresh fruit on the palate but I couldn't share it with a stranger to South African wine. (Looking for non-French wines to show Cathy Faller.) It should go rather well in an extravagantly effete way with tonight's lobster but all the same ... On the way down alas. (JR)

Unirrigated bush vines planted in 1960. Ambient fermentation and ageing in five used French oak barrels. Quite a deep honeyed character. Edgy and taut – really on an exciting tightrope of lime and honey ricocheting around the palate with a dry chalky finish. With such delicacy and well-judged acidity, plus fruit. Sophisticated dry wine from obviously well-scouted ingredients. What a talent! Long and so thrilling on the finish. The word tang was made for this wine. Such an impact on the palate. VGV (JR)

Awesome yoghurt, lemon and peach flavours with waxy texture. Lovely mealy persistence. Long, spicy finish. Touch of toast. (RH)
