Tasting notes
The 2016 Beaune 1Er Cru Coucherias is another beautiful wine. Black cherries, currants, saddle leather, dried violets, and lavender notes all emerge from the glass, and it's balanced, elegant, and silky on the palate, with plenty of richness and depth. This seamless, sexy wine has polished tannins, a blockbuster finish, and no hard edges.

Organic. Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Smells much riper than the Clos du Dessus des Marconnets. Lovely red-cherry sweetness. Delicate and scented on the palate. As with the other Labet wines, the tannins are fine and dry but here the fruit seems more generous and thus the whole is more persistent and complete at this stage.(JH
(these south-facing vines were much less affected by the frost than the Clos du Dessus des Marconnets, producing about 35 hectoliters per hectare): Good medium red. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, leather and earth; more musky and less fruity than the Clos du Dessus des Marconnets. Concentrated, solid Beaune wine with good concentration and savory soil character. A gutsy wine but also displays a relaxed quality and attractive sweetness.
