The 2015 Pavillon de Poyferré has a sweet and candied bouquet with dark cherries and boysenberry jam aromas, just missing the complexity of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, a little raw compared to its peers with some attenuation toward the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

Second wine. Tasted blind. Neat with some development on the nose. First bottle: slightly raw tannins but there is ripe fruit here. Whether they will ever come together, I wonder. Sufficient fruit for those tannins? Hollow finish. Second bottle: much juicier than the first. Fresh and clean. (JR)

The 2015 Pavillon de Poyferré is a lovely second wine. Delicate, fragrant and expressive, with pretty red/purplish berry fruit, spice and rose petal nuances, the Pavillon is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. This is a decidedly laid-back style.

The 2015 Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is medium garnet-purple in color with a nose of black fruits, earth, olives and savory notions. Medium-bodied, firm and taut in the mouth, it has lovely vibrancy and pleasantly grainy tannins, finishing long and earthy.
