Tasting notes
WhistlePig was founded in 2007 on a former dairy farm in Vermont. It is the brainchild of renowned entrepreneur Raj Bhakta, under the guidance of Master Distiller Dave Pickerell of Maker's Mark fame. Having examined the techniques of Old World Scotch Whisky production, the duo began curating whiskeys by finishing the finest aged rye stock available in premium European wine and spirits barrels: Madeira, Sauternes, Port, Cognac and Sherry. It is the carefully-selected marriage of these finishes that has resulted in one of the most-decorated and in-demand whiskeys on the market: WhistlePig 12 Year Old World. The Old World Series is a 12 year old rye inspired by Old World barrel-ageing traditions. This expression is finished in a combination of Madeira (63%), Sauternes (30%) and Port (7%) barrels, with the three finishes uniting to create an exceptionally balanced and ultra-premium whiskey. Awarded Double Gold at the 2015 San Francisco Spirits Awards, this whiskey has been catapulted to world-renowned status.
