Score 91/100 · Drink 2017-2024, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2016

The 2014 Cuvée de l'Enfant Terrible is the lightest-colored of all reds, produced with the finicky grape Poulsard. It's sourced from vines planted in 1959 and grown on white and grey marl. This is always the more volatile and wild of the domaine reds (that's without counting the new quasi-experimental cuvées), with some organic aromas and something earthy. My experience with Poulsard is that you really have to wait ten years after the vintage for the wines to really settle down. Nowadays that's almost unthinkable, and the army of 'natural' wine drinkers out there are used to gulping down the wines shortly after they have finished fermenting. If you drink it now you'll get primary flavors, acid berries, high acidity and some volatile hints. There's no track record for Ganevat's reds, but extrapolating what I've seen with the reds from Overnoy, I suspect this will be a completely different animal in a few years. Drink or hold, depending on the experience you want to have. This is a little extreme, but somehow it's my favorite red today.

Very pale colour. Aromas of red fruit and orange and a slightly smoky reductive note. Light-bodied, finely textured and juicy. Those red fruits and orange, and perhaps tomato, come out on the finish. (JH)
