Score 95/100 · Drink 2020-2040, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2019
The 2016 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru wafts from the glass with a glorious bouquet of dark berries, rose petals, candied peel, rich soil and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with excellent concentration, satiny tannins and a fleshy core of succulent and pure fruit, concluding with a long, precise finish. It's a bit sappier than the richer, more gourmand 2015 rendition but the two wines are similar in ultimate quality.

About the producer

Philippe Jouan
The wines of Henri & Philippe Jouan fly under the radar – and, with the current quantities produced (from just three hectares of vines), this is unlikely to change any time soon.
