90% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot. The bunches were hand-harvested and barrel fermented in French oak barriques. Barrel fermentation and maturation are managed on the OXOline system. The 2015 vintage was matured for 27 months in 100% new French oak barriques before being assembled, egg-white fined and bottled without filtration. Natural cork. Tasted blind. Sweet cassis but not amazingly distinctive. A bit buttery and then a tad sharp. Dry, goaty end. (JR)

The 2015 The Journeyman has an attractive bouquet with vibrant blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, notes of cassis coming through with time and violet too. The oak is neatly integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with an appealing fleshy mouthfeel. Not an austere Bordeaux blend, more Right Bank if you will, backed by a keen thread of acidity and a composed, peppery finish. This is a classy wine that is aging well in bottle. Tasted blind at the 10-Year-On horizontal in London.

75% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot. The blend for this wine really does vary drastically from year to year. Clove, tobacco and cigar notes, but this is very closed now, with high, grainy tannins. Not ready. (JRL)

Dusty and dark fruited, the 2015 The Journeyman is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with a tight core of red fruit. The slightly herbal and spicy nose gives pleasure and has depth and complexity. The palate is spicier than the nose leads you to believe and has a structured, bold finish. The length of the finish is long and balanced, with thoughtful and graceful tannins. Yum! So far, the only vintages that have been made are the 2005, 2007, 2011 and 2015. Only 1,500 bottles of the 2015 vintage were produced.
