Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2016-2022, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

There is just half the normal harvest of the Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot this year. Deep ruby in colour, it has a delightful redcurrant and crushed strawberry bouquet. The palate is crisp and fresh with chalky tannins and fine focus on the tense and lively finish. This is one of the best red Chassagnes that I tasted in 2013 as it conveys a sense of substance that they often lack.

The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot has quite a conservative bouquet, perhaps without the same expressive personality as the Boudriottes at this early juncture. The palate is harmonious and smooth in the mouth, hints of white peach and nectarine infiltrating the citrus fruit and concluding with a focused and detailed finish. Once those aromatics awaken this will be a delicious Chassagne to enjoy over the next 12-15 years. Dec 2014, www.robertparker.com
