Bright light yellow. Ripe yellow stone fruits are complicated by apple and pear, with a spicy note emerging with aeration. Supple and quite dry, combining a hint of green apple and salty minerality. Much less about primary fruit than the nose suggests, and even a touch sour today and in need of patience. A more classic style than the Meursault Charmes, but not quite as pristine as a sample I tried from barrel a year ago.

Complex nose with plenty of candied lemons and lemon balm. A concentrated, crisp and salty wine with great energy. A long, vibrant and mineral finish. Drink now.
Back to the more creamy aroma here and better balance of ripe fruit and winemaking/barrel and lees texture. This wine is beautifully balanced between the oak-derived texture and the fruit freshness and purity. (JH)
(malo finished): Pale, bright straw-yellow color. Sexy scents of apple, ginger and nutmeg. Supple on entry, then juicy in the middle palate and more minerally than the Meursault Charmes. This is aging in 40% new oak but the wood element is subtle. Wonderful energy and precision here, conveying considerable éclat to its flavors of lemon, lime, crushed stone and flowers. The firmest and most minerally of these 2016 premier crus, not to mention the longest on the aftertaste. Offers superb potential.
