Wonderful on the nose, complex and intense, belying the delicate look in the glass. Morello cherry, wild strawberry leading to waves of gamey, slightly savoury notes that couldn’t come from anywhere else in the world other than Burgundy. On the palate the weight is perfect with pure and very intense fruit countered by mineral notes, fresh acidity and powerful tannins. There’s huge power unpinning the fruit, this is serious Pinot Noir that will age superbly. Oct 2017, FINE+RARE, Drink 2020-2035

Bright floral notes, lifted, red-toned fruit and mid-weight structure are signatures of the 2016 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru. The 2016 is nicely done, but I would have preferred to see more depth, concentration and site-specific character. Hopefully future vintages will be a bit more representative of what this Grand Cru can offer. - Antonio Galloni
About the producer
Charles van Canneyt is the young vigneron at the helm of Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat. Looking to increase production, he started a négoce label under his own name in 2012, expanding the operation in 2013.
