Tasting notes
Riper than the classic cuvee, with tons of meatiness, tar, asphalt and black currant aromas and flavors, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee des Generations comes from the old vines of the estate and is brought up in plenty of new barrels. It’s absorbed any traces of oak but shows a slightly troubling evolution and tariness (I suspect from the oak) that makes me question where this cuvee is headed. Nevertheless, it’s full-bodied and concentrated, with lots of texture, ripe tannin and a good finish, and it certainly has another 4-6 years of longevity.
