The 2013 Grusse en Billat is Chardonnay from a 1.8-hectare plot planted in 1960 on slate and marl soils in the Rotalier zone, therefore a Côtes du Jura. This is always a powerful, mineral wine and feels more backward than others, quite serious. The palate reveals intense, penetrating flavors and a solid structure. Fanfan might get annoyed if he reads this, but it has quite a Burgundian personality. It's very tasty combining power and elegance with concentration and acidity. A very successful showing for Grusse en Billat.
