Tasting notes
Checking in as a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, brought up in concrete tanks, the 2016 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Visitare Interiore Terrae offers a northern Rhône-like bouquet of blackberry and cassis fruits, new saddle leather, scorched earth, and graphite. Deep, rich, incredibly complex, and layered, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, building tannins, good acidity, and a huge finish. It's a true “Wow” wine, and one of the finest vintages to date.

A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, the 2016 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Visitare Interiore Terrae features classy notes of struck flint, crushed stone and pencil shavings, all backed by mixed berry fruit. This medium to full-bodied red's tannins are slightly more pronounced than in some other Bila Haut bottlings, but they stay ripe and silky through the long finish.
Barrel sample. Sweet and medicinal – seems halfway to a vin doux naturel! But good balance and nice chew on the end. Much more elegant than the RI. Very long and lively. (JR)
