The deep ruby/purple colored 2015 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Visitare Interiore Terrae (60/40 Grenache and Syrah) offers a beautifully complex nose of cassis, black currants, damp earth (granite), chocolate and roasted meats. Rich, full-bodied, unctuous and about as sexy as they come, it has lots of sweet fruit, no hard edges and a big finish. Count me as a fan and it's a gorgeous wine to drink over the coming 7-8 years.

A month-old, preserved cask sample – although unlike its stablemate samples, this wine does seem to be very slightly tired on the nose. Not as heavy a sulphur dose as the others? Mid crimson. Broad, round, very warm but chock full of terroir. Every bit as exciting as the 2015 northern Rhônes from this producer, if not more so! Really rich and lively. Firm with a strong rock-sucking element on the end. Bravo! I should imagine a really fresh sample would be even more impressive. (JR)
