Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of ripe blue fruits, Asian spices and incense pick up a vibrant mineral flourish with air. Palate-staining, appealingly sweet boysenberry, cherry and spicecake flavors are complemented by an exotic floral pastille quality and a touch of spiciness. Rich but energetic as well, showing impressive finishing clarity and smooth, even tannins that sneak in slowly.

The lifted fruit and hint of nail polish on the nose of the 2015 Vacqueyras Vieilles Vignes were too much for me. The bright raspberry-cherry fruit is attractive, but the wine comes across as tight and hard. Maybe it will improve in a few years.
(made with 50 percent whole clusters) Deep ruby. Smoke- and mineral-accented red and blue fruits, incense and candied licorice on the expansive nose. Sweet, palate-staining black raspberry and boysenberry flavors show excellent depth as well as vivacity, picking up a sexy floral pastille note with aeration. Displays impressive focus and lift on the youthfully tannic, impressively persistent finish, which features lingering lavender and spicecake notes.
70% Grenache (over 60 years old), 25% Syrah (40 years old), 5% Mourvèdre (40 years old). Two-thirds whole bunch, aged in one-year-old barrels. Blackish ruby. Sweet and silky on the nose – most alluring already. Heady. Round with very gentle tannins that make their presence felt only on the very end, along with a hint of alcoholic warmth. This really does taste of Provençal sunshine; there could even be a hint of lavender along with the sautéed plums. (JR)
