The 2015 Corton Les Grèves Grand Cru has an attractive, quite bold, fruit-driven bouquet with hints of blue fruit infiltrating the red; the new oak is maybe just a little conspicuous. The palate is ripe and tart on the entry, offering plenty of graphite-infused black fruit, and ends in a slightly abrupt finish. Hopefully this will fill out with further bottle age, and given its impressive showing from barrel, I believe it will. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2015 Corton Grand Cru Greves is a very impressive wine, built for the long haul, offering up a brooding nose of dark berries, forest floor and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and deep, with a rich chassis of tannin and almost chewy concentration, underpinned by good acids. Patience will be required while the tannins melt, but this will develop into an excellent Corton in the fullness of time.

Tasted after the La Vigne au Saint, the Corton-Grèves presents a decidedly darker, riper fruit profile along with notable textural richness and breadth. Black cherry, licorice, mocha and dark spice all develop in the glass. The decision to work with fully destemmed fruit seems to suit the personality of Grèves nicely in this wine. - Antonio Galloni
