The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has quite a precocious bouquet of ample white peach, citrus lemon, smoke and flint aromas that gather momentum in the glass. The palate is saline on the entry. There is fine depth here, and good tension, if not quite the complexity and precision of its peers on the finish. A fine Grand Cru if not a Chevalier from the top drawer. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)

The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru offers up a pretty bouquet of preserved lemon, citrus pith, toasted almonds and a subtle framing of new wood. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, glossy and cool, with impressive balance and a long, intense finish. This isn't quite as searingly incisive or concentrated as Bouchard's Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte, but it's an excellent wine.

Pale, bright yellow. Lemon zest, orange oil and crushed stone on the nose, with strong calcaire pungency. Densely packed, fine-grained and pliant, showing lovely subtle sweetness to its intense flavors of lemon, lime and crushed stone. This very deep, sappy wine possesses the stuffing and extract to make its alcohol virtually disappear. Very long and alive on the aftertaste. Displays a bit less obvious power but more inner-mouth saline_ calcaire_ lift than the Corton; in fact, this may be more backward.
