Tasting notes
The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has a very refined bouquet, offering more obvious red berry fruit than the 2014 if not quite the same degree of precision. The palate is medium-bodied, very pure and refined with a fine delineation, harmonious from start to finish with lightly spiced red fruit and that same disarming clarity that I discerned on the finish when I tasted this 2015 in barrel. Superb. Tasted at Flint Wines’ Taupenot-Merme retrospective.

The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte opens in the glass with a pretty nose of sweet cherry, warm spice and strawberry. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a chalky chassis of tannin, bright acids and a firm, grippy finish.
Good dark red. Expressive aromas and flavors of cherry, brown spices and smoky underbrush. Fat, silky and moderately sweet; broader and more powerful in the early going than the Combe d'Orveau but without that wine's finesse. Delivers impressive volume and saline minerality, finishing with big, dusty tannins and classic dryness.
