Tasting notes
The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte has an outstanding bouquet with dark berry fruit, orange blossom and cold stone aromas that blossom in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, very fine tannin, pure dark berry fruit with a touch of sous-bois. Yet what really elevates this wine is the precision on the finish, that almost disarming clarity. This comes highly recommended—the best ever produced at the domaine. This too is aromatically quite enticing with its exuberantly fresh nose that blends notes of earth, spice and floral elements with those of various red berry fruit scents. The rich, round and beguilingly delicious middle weight flavors possess a highly seductive mouth feel thanks to the abundant dry extract that serves to buffer the moderately firm tannins on the lingering finish that is presently not quite as complex as that of the Combe d’Orveau. The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte opens in the glass with a pretty nose of sweet cherry, warm spice and strawberry. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a chalky chassis of tannin, bright acids and a firm, grippy finish. Apr 2018, www.robertparker.com
