The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes is also quite closed on the nose, opening in the glass with a brooding bouquet of plums, soil and subtle game bird. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, cool and concentrated, its tannins firmer and more austere than the velvety Pertuisots, but its potential similarly great.

300 m facing east. Cool site. The youngest vines are ‘just’ 27 years. 25% whole bunch. To be bottled in February or March 2017. Rich crimson. Really creamy texture. Quite outstanding! Plush but racy too. Redcurrant fool. (JR)
