The 2015 Patatsfontein Steen takes time to find its groove on the nose, but it does, offering enticing scents of honeysuckle, yellow fruit and just a touch of jasmine. The palate is well balanced with a slightly resinous texture on the entry, a keen line of acidity and just the right amount of bitterness with a dash of lemongrass on the finish. Fine, though it loses a bit of vigor with aeration. Tasted blind at the 10-Year-On horizontal in London.
