Tasting notes
The 2009 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, which had been opened that morning by Cécile, offers ripe red and blackberry fruit with kirsch, leather and dried flowers on the nose that gives away a bit of warmth. The palate is medium-bodied with candied red fruit on the opening, Moroccan spice, white pepper and sage, sporting impressive depth on the finish. It seems ready to drink now, a decent Les Beaux Monts, even if it was completely surpassed by a 2005 Chapelle-Chambertin from Cécile later that day.

The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts is a super-ripe, exotic beauty from one of the warmer microclimates in Vosne. This sensual, inviting wine caresses the palate with seamless layers of black fruit, showing plenty of depth, persistence and harmony. It is an inviting, rich Burgundy that captures the essence of this great vintage.
