Even better than the 2012, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard flirts with perfection and reminds me a little of some of the old school Napa Cabernets with its classic bouquet of blackcurrants, cedarwood, unsmoked tobacco, and flowery incense notes. Aging gracefully, it’s starting to show some maturity in its aromatics and is drinking beautifully, especially for a 2013. Nevertheless, its density, mid-palate depth, structure, and balance all promise another 20 years or more of longevity.

An absolutely fabulous wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard has an inky bluish/purple color, extraordinary nose of graphite, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, forest floor and spring flora. The wine hits the palate with a full-bodied richness, stunning purity and an absolutely magnificent texture and length. It would be difficult to want more in a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon than this. Drink it over the next 25 years.

Myriad's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III is just as delicious from bottle as it was from barrel. Iron, smoke and exotic red-fleshed fruit are all pushed forward. The Georges III offers plenty of nuance and detail to balance the creamy, voluptuous fruit. Today, the 2013 is a bit closed, but that is not surprising given its recent bottling.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III is vivid and really quite expressive today. A floral, lifted bouquet laced with iron, smoke, savory herbs, dried flowers and leather melds into layered, persistent fruit in a very pretty Cabernet Sauvignon from one of Napa Valley's best-known sites. Freshness and nuance abound in the 2013.
