Tasting notes
The 2010 L'Esprit Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Millésime is 100% stainless steel-fermented Chardonnay from the crus Le Mesnil, Oger, Avize and Cramant. Disgorged in November with a dosage of 4.7 grams, this intensely golden-yellow colored Esprit de 2010 is very complex on the nose; there are iodine flavors along with candied lemons, shortly stewed apples and a touch of nougat. Round and complex, but light and delicate on the palate, this is an extraordinary Champagne with a firm structure and a long, grippy, tension-filled finish. This is highly recommended.

A bright, crystalline Champagne, the Brut L'Esprit de 2010 is built on a core of pure energy. This is an especially weightless, tense style for the Esprit. It will appeal most to readers who like focused, citrus-driven Blancs de Blancs. It will be interesting to see if the 2010 acquires a bit more weight in bottle. Regardless, this is a striking and delicious Champagne that captures the essence of the house style. Disgorged November, 2015. Dosage is 4.7 grams per liter.
