2009 Proprietary Red Blend

Anthonij Rupert's 2009 Proprietary Red Blend consists of Bordeaux varieties. The nose is quite perfumed with cranberry and wild strawberry aromas; here, the oak is nicely assimilated with an attractive floral, rose petal element that becomes more noticeable with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, red cherry and strawberry fruit infused with cedar and a touch of graphite. It is nicely balanced with plenty of freshness and good tension, although it needs to demonstrate more sophistication on the finish. It is a very capable Bordeaux blend, although it needs to do more to justify the price tag.
