I’ve been disappointed with the wines from Gauby over the past few years, but the 2013 Vieilles Vignes (Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah, from very old vines) is unquestionably a beautiful wine. It offers a classic and elegant bouquet of black cherries, dried earth, garrigue, and flowers. Medium-bodied, elegant and seamless on the palate, with a vibrant textured, it will keep for a decade or more.

Tasted out of bottle, the 2013 Cotes du Roussillon Vieilles Vignes is a stunner. Beautifully concentrated, with classic juniper, lilac, pepper and scrub brush/wild herbs, as well as a great core or sweet fruit, it's medium to full-bodied, has integrated acidity, and a taut, energetic, pure profile. This is a classic 2013 that will benefit from short-term cellaring, and evolve nicely for over a decade.
