Dairy notes on the nose, a touch of saltiness and rather flabby fruit character. Seems to lack the definition of fruit that their Royal Réserve has, for example. Is there a touch of undue oxidation here? (RH)

Silky, aromatically expressive and delicate on the palate, the 2009 Blanc de Noirs has a lot to offer. Nothing in particular stands out. If anything, it is the wine's overall balance and harmony that make the strongest impression. The decision to partially block the malolactic fermentation helps retain a good bit of freshness. Overall, this is a delicate style for Blanc de Noirs. The Blanc de Noirs is a blend of fruit from Mareuil and Aÿ. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged February 2016.

All premiers and grands crus. Disgorged July 2016, dosage 4.5 g/l, 100% Pinot Noir. Pale gold. Fine bead. Really toasty nose and lots of fruit though I could not describe it as red. More peachy. Tastes very dry and again lots of fruit on the palate and less toasty than on the nose. Quite a deal of power here. Lightly chewy and intense. A great food wine, I imagine. Amazing energy and youth. Light nose. Almost painful acidity after a sweet palate entry. There is something really distinctive about this. It tastes almost biodynamic! Youthful but promising. (JR)
