Tasting notes
The 2009 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru L'Avizoise is quite closed today, which is probably a very good thing for the future. Lemon peel, white flowers and smoke gradually open up in the bouquet. With time in the glass, the Avizoise gains breadth, volume and resonance, all signatures of these old-vine parcels on clay-rich soils. There is a lot to like in the Avizoise, but readers will have to be patient. This is the most reticent of Pascal Agrapart's 2009s. The Avizoise is sourced from the Les Robarts and la Voie d’Epernay lieux-dits and fermented in neutral 600-liter barrels. Dosage is 5 grams/liter. Disgorged: June 2015.
