Medium red. Pungent, slightly herbal aromas and flavors of red cherry, licorice, leather, tobacco leaf and peppery, tart red berries. A spicy, earthy, slightly leathery midweight with modest sweetness and slightly dusty tannins. Could use a bit more flesh and delineation. But very Beaune!

(from a 3. 36-hectare monopole featuring deep clay soil that never suffers from drought): Healthy dark red. Aromas of redcurrant, rust and tobacco leaf suggest an iron component. Supple and fine-grained, showing a restrained sweetness and lovely roundness and depth to the flavors of dark cherry and violet complicated by a saline nuance. Finishes supple and long, with substantial but fine-grained tannins. This is very good.

Once again there is ample wood present on the perfumed, cool and again airy aromas of both red and dark cherry that are liberally laced with spice elements and a discreet soupçon of earth. Once again there is excellent volume and the same sleek mouth feel to the medium-bodied flavors that also exude a fine minerality onto the delicious and sappy finale where the underpinning tannins are not quite as ripe.
