Mid crimson. A more raw note on the nose than the 2015. Gloriously opulent on the palate! Really exciting and fleshy – just very slightly drier on the end than the 2015. Well done! Broad and long. Still quite tight on the end – presumably closing up a little. (JR)
Full medium red. Sexy, slightly high-toned fruit-salad aromas are accented by minerals and spices. Fat, fleshy and ripe, with creamy red and black fruit flavors firmed by a sound mineral underpinning. This round, concentrated wine delivers a lovely combination of energy and sucrosité . Finishes with ripe tannins and serious length. Maxime Cheurlin told me he could enjoy this wine tonight, adding that he likes his wines on the young side.
Dense with a bit of oak in evidence still but jewelly pure fruit should dominate eventually. A long-term prospect. Great energy. (JR)
