(25% new oak): Very pale, green-tinged color. Almost Riesling-like scents of lime blossom, crushed stone, lavender and white pepper. Creamy, rich and deep, with its citrus and floral flavors intensified by salty minerality. Not as backward as the Bienvenues or the Batard as this wine has a higher pH and lower acidity, but wonderfully flavorful and long, with its saltiness providing dynamism.

The 2014 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru takes a few swirls of the glass to really get going, eventually developing subtle peardrop and nectarine notes that patiently wait behind the stony veneer. The palate is crisp and fresh on the entry with a fine line of acidity, brisk and lively, hints of peach and pineapple coming through on the seductive and flattering finish that has plenty of roundness. This is just gorgeous, but it needs several years in the cellar.
(from vines in the high part of cru): Very pale, bright yellow. Lemon zest, crushed stone, white flowers, lavender and sea salt on the nose; smells taut. Densely packed and almost painfully intense, with the flavors of citrus fruits, ripe grapefruit and crushed stone conveying a tactile impression of dry extract. Elegant and sweet (about 2 g/l r.s.), and the lowest in acidity of these 2014s at 3.6 grams per liter, and thus this wine does not come off as austere. Boudot suggests drinking it young for its fresh fruit or waiting six or seven years.
