Tasting notes
100% Chardonnay. Chalky monopole clos of 0.29 ha (0.72 acre). Vines over 60 years old. 100% oak vinification and kept seven months on lees. Aged at least nine years in bottle. Dosage 3 g/l. Broad, interesting. Bone-dry finish and strong statement. Lots of evolution and interest and layers here. So much better than the basic Blanc de Blancs! (JR)

The 2006 Extra-Brut 1er Cru Cuvée du Clos is a great choice for drinking today, as the flavors and textures are nicely mellowed by time. Dried herbs, crushed flowers, apricot pit, dried pear, honey and smoke are all pushed forward. Rich, voluptuous and generous, the 2006 has it all. What a gorgeous and complete wine this is. Disgorged: 05/15.
