Moderately saturated medium red. Very cool, pure aromas of raspberry and underbrush. Distinctly saline in the mouth, with the fruit a bit clenched in the early going but already nicely delineated; notes of coffee and blood orange emerged with air. Still a bit youthfully tough on the end but not dry. Here's a village wine that demands aging.

Bright medium red. Sexy perfume of black raspberry, licorice, violet and wild herbs. Denser and sweeter than the Nuits villages but also sharply chiseled, offering high-pitched, youthfully imploded flavors of raspberry, spices, flowers and blood orange. Tight and reserved today but with a chewy, saline strength and precision and length of flavor that suggest it will evolve gracefully in bottle. A potentially outstanding village wine.
The 2013 Vosne-Romanée Village has slightly darker fruit than the Nuits-Saint-Georges ’13: light floral scents with orange rind developing just behind. There is good structure here and a captivating salinity that furnishes the long and tender finish. This is an enigmatic Vosne-Romanée that may well punch above its weight once in bottle.
