Tasting notes
(raised for a year in used 800-liter oak vats): Brilliant ruby. Expressive aromas of ripe black raspberry, candied flowers and peppery spices are given vivacity by a mineral nuance. Intensely flavored but graceful, displaying strong, spicy lift to the red berry preserve and floral pastille flavors. Finishes with slow-building tannins and outstanding, floral-dominated persistence.

Some excellent density for the vintage with dried berry, and hints of stewed fruit. Full and spicy.
(aged for a year in 8,000-liter oak vats): Brilliant ruby-red. The high-pitched, spice-accented bouquet evokes fresh red berries, peppery spices and lavender and a hint of succulent herbs. Silky, sweet and expansive on the palate, showing juicy raspberry and cherry flavors that become spicier with air. In an elegant, seamless and fruit-driven style, offering strong finishing punch and silky, slow-building tannins. These vines are over 80 years old now.
The 2013 Domaine de Terre Ferme Châteauneuf du Pape is good, but not inspiring, and offers light red fruits, pepper and underbrush in a medium-bodied, bright, mid-weight style. It will need drinking in its first 7-8 years.
