(these vines are between 70 and 80 years of age): Bright lemon-yellow. Very ripe but subdued aromas of lemon drop, lavender and crushed herbs. Densely packed and powerful, displaying a lovely sugar/acid balance and penetrating minerality. Barnier blocked part of the malolactic fermentation here. Great spine for long aging. (this got a bit of blocked ML). This salty, extract-rich, almost tannic wine has the spine for long aging. From deep soil.

The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle has a very attractive bouquet that is well defined, with scents of yellow plum, honeysuckle and jasmine billowing from the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, good tension here from start to finish, though conservative and linear, not wishing to put a foot wrong. With good persistence in the mouth, I can see this really getting into its stride once in bottle.

Monopole. Low-key nose with hints of lemon and lime. Edge and potential. Very dry and savoury on the end. All future rather than current pleasure! Some wet-stone character. (JR)
