Score 93/100 · Drink 2016-2021, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

The 2008 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Vénus is a 100% Chardonnay from 50-year-old vines cultivated in the eponymous single vineyard in Avize. This cru offers a bright, very pure, smoky/chalky and lovely, intense but also discreet bouquet of vanilla croissant, champignons and dates. On the palate this is a pure and naked, elegant but not austere Champagne with a firm and persistent structure, as well as a mineral, still youthful aftertaste. There is an animating grip on the palate and the wine is still on the road. This is a quite Burgundian Champagne, you just have to decant it. Do it and taste the difference!
