Smoky, with some cooked vegetables and flint. Chalky and spicy with good length, but the combination of flavours doesn’t quite work. (TJ)

The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu has a very reserved, austere bouquet with light undergrowth scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant with good concentration, well-judged acidity, leading to a classic Chablis finish that is more like a 2014 than a 2013. A little austerity to contend with perhaps, but it is very harmonious.

Rich, ample and broad on the palate, the Chablis Mont de Milieu is endowed with significant richness, body and weight. White and yellow peach, mint, smoke, slate and graphite notes blossom in a beautifully resonant Chablis that should drink well with minimal cellaring given how expressive and open it is today.

Hazy pale yellow color; not as green as the foregoing 2013s. Sexy, ripe aromas of pear and pineapple. Supple, sweet and creamy for the vintage, conveying an almost buttery richness to its middle palate. This attractive fruit bomb finishes with lovely floral lift and length.
