Pale, bright yellow. Slightly exotic aromas of pineapple, yellow peach and grilled oak. Fat and tactile on the palate, with citrus and mineral flavors showing good energy. Firm-edged on the finish. Like so many other wines from this vintage, this will probably drink well for the next couple of years or after 2020.

The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains, which comes from the center of the vineyard where there is a the highest proportion of pure Kimmeridgian clay, is matured in around 40% oak. It has a precise almond and hazelnut-tinged bouquet that gains vigor in the glass with each swirl. The palate is smooth and harmonious on the entry, the acidity nicely judged, generous and almost Chassagne-like in style. This is very well crafted, again, a Chablis that is generous and one that I can envisage garnering mass appeal.

Citrus, lime, mint, savory herbs, oyster shells and almonds lift from the glass in the 2013 Chablis Montmains. Beautifully expressive in the glass, the 2013 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. The style is intensely floral and weightless, with notable class and considerable potential.

Slightly hazy yellow-green. Musky, ripe aromas of orange and lemon zest, mint and hazelnut. Silky and broad, with a distinctly Cote de Beaune-like fullness to its white peach flavor. Richer and more exotic than the Vaillons but doesn't have that wine's cut. Finishes a bit edgy but with very good length.
