Tasting notes
(vinified with one-third whole clusters): Bright medium red. Smoky red fruits, wild herbs and menthol on the nose, with a fresh cherry element providing lift. At once sweet and savory, with a spice quality to the soil-driven red fruit flavors. Nicely silky wine with suave tannins and very good length. This has turned out well.

(one-third vendange entier; 20% new oak): Bright red. Subtle redcurrant and licorice aromas complicated by a whiff of forest floor. Juicy and bright, with firm, sappy red berry and pepper flavors leading to a broad, fine-grained finish. Savory and dry but with more energy than the Greves. A very good showing.
About the producer

Volnay’s Domaine de Montille is one of the most historic in the Côte d’Or. Founded in 1730, the property remains family-owned and run, with Etienne de Montille – the ninth generation – at the helm today.
