Tasting notes
The 2005 Clos des Goisses Rosé is gracious, feminine and lifted in style. Crushed flowers, sweet red berries and mint all blossom in the glass. An intensely saline finish gives the 2005 its sense of energy and direction. Once again, the Clos des Goisses Rosé is completely different in style from the straight Clos des Goisses. In fact, the connection between the two wines is not at all perceptible. Here, Charles Philipponnat is clearly going for a lighter style based of Rosé that is meant to be drunk on the young side. The Rosé is made by adding 6-7% still Pinot to the straight Clos des Goisses base blend. Dosage is 4.5 grams/liter.

Deceptively light in color and medium in body, the 2005 Clos des Goisses Rosé possesses surprising density and palate weight. The addition of 6% still Pinot contributes breadth and persistence, both qualities that are quite welcome. Refined and sophisticated from the very first taste, the 2005 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. As always, the Clos des Goisses Rosé is understated in style. The 2005 is going to be impossible to resist. This is a great showing from Philipponnat.
