The 2011 Morey-Saint-Denis Tres Girard is soft, pretty and sensual. Sweet dark cherries, cloves and mint are some of the aromas and flavors that emerge from this caressing, supple Burgundy. The style is unusually soft for Morey, but that will only please Tremblay fans looking for a wine to enjoy upon release.

A pungent nose of reduction and wood toast make for an unreadable set of aromas. There is however good freshness and verve to the mildly wood-infused middle weight flavors that possess a suave mid-palate with plenty of palate coating dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannins on the chalky and balanced finish. The quality villages should reward 7 to as much as 10 years of cellar time. Tasted: Jan 14, 2013. Drink: 2018+
