Score 89-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

More apple and spice than minerals on the nose. Supple and fruity, with good purity and freshness; a nicely concentrated, easygoing wine with lovely texture and persistence. This offers compelling fruit character for a 2001. The grapes here reached 13% potential alcohol, according to Bernard. I tasted this and the following two samples in the barrel cellar of a house across the street that Bernard and brother Jean-Marie recently purchased.
