The 2010 Haut-Condissas certainly surpasses my only other encounter during en primeur. It has a much more detailed and terroir-driven bouquet compared to the 2009: blackberry, crushed stone, pressed flowers, another vintage that borrows something from Margaux. I appreciate the delineation and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a keen line of acidity, superb structure and the 100% new oak simpatico with the fruit. There is tension interwoven into this Haut-Condissas from start to finish and it constitutes the finest to date. It comes highly recommended. Tasted at the Haut-Condissas vertical at the property.

Not very deep in colour. Easy and round. Not that ambitious and quite tough on the end. (JR)

The top cuvee made by the innovative and visionary proprietor Jean Guyon, the 2010 Haut-Condissas has loads of black currant fruit, charcoal, graphite, and tobacco leaf notes in a full-bodied, rich, attractive, very supple and fleshy style. Drink it over the next 10-12 years. By the way, there is a kosher (or as the French say “kacher”) cuvee of this wine that didn’t seem nearly as good, although it was certainly competent.

A dense ruby/plum/purple color is followed by aromas of blueberry liqueur, black currants, crushed rock and spring flowers. This medium to full-bodied, impressively endowed Medoc displays good freshness, precision and definition. This is an over-achieving effort from proprietor Jean Guyon that should drink nicely for a decade.
