Tasting notes
A golden yellow color, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Blancs De Noirs Les Crayeres Vieilles Vignes Extra Brut is base 2018, with six years on the lees before disgorgement. Long and sustained on the palate, it captures the power of place, originating as it does from Les Crayeres with its very old Pinot Noir vines, and it has remarkable depth of fruit. It’s fleshy, ripe, and long, but it has freshness, and while it’s fantastic now, but it should have no problem improving over the coming 20 years. This is fabulous.

Deep and complex, showing candied fruit, quince and lanolin with chalky minerality, strawberries and a bit of horseradish, slightly honeyed. Medium-bodied. Fine bubbles are tight, intense and long. Savory and tasty, pure and energetic. Drink or hold.
A blend of the 2016 and 2015 vintages, the NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru Les Crayères is an especially good rendition of this almost routinely sublime bottling. Unwinding in the glass with notes of pear, wild berries, clear honey, white flowers, praline and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, beautifully layered and textural, with a taut, concentrated core, racy acids and a long, mineral finish. This chiseled, intensely flavored Champagne was disgorged this year with only one gram per liter dosage.
The NV Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut is incredibly expressive and complete aromatically. It pours a golden hue and has a perfume of red flowers, kirsch, brioche, and a delicate touch of smoke. This is a wine that evolves in the glass and develops almost espresso-like richness with time. It is full-bodied but remains elegant, with good concentration and a long finish. It feels sunny. It spent 72 months on the lees before disgorgement in July 2021.
