Score 90/100 · Drink 2024-2030, Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate, Dec 2024

The NV Brut 7 Crus, based on the 2022 vintage (50%) and complemented by reserve wines from 2021, blends the juices from the end pressing of all villages of the estate and includes 10% Pinot Noir from Avenay-val-d'Or. Disgorged in October 2024 with with a dosage of five grams per liter, it’s a wine with more a immediate personality, offering up aromas of peach, pear and bread dough. Ample and textural, it’s underpinned by succulent yet vibrant acidity. The one wine in range that can ever be described as simple, it is less coherent with the rest of the lineup, which exclusively derives from the Côte de Blancs.

90% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir. Base 2020. Dosage 6 g/l. Disgorged May 2023. Quince. Quartz-like acidity, broad across the mid palate and then sweeping into a precise finish. Tangerine, caramel, nutmeg; every layer something different. Very satisfying and great balance of sweetness and crispness. (TC)

Seven villages are represented in this cuvée with 90% chardonnay and 10% pinot noir. This is 2016 (60%) and 2015 (40%) with a very fresh nose, offering exuberant, yellow-fruit aromas with some fresh bread from the 26-month resting on lees. This has a smooth palate, with plenty of attractive citrus fruit and peaches on offer and there’s very expressive fruit flesh at the finish.

Estate based in Avize, with most of its 12 ha (30 acres) spread over several Côte des Blancs grands crus. No chemical pesticide or herbicide, cultivation for soil quality and root depth. Well-used 600-litre casks used to ferment important fractions. There are natural-yeast fermentations and experimentation with this for the second fermentation too. This is 90% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir from seven villages, including grands crus Cramant and Avize. Blend of 2015 and 2016. About 2 years on lees. About 50% of the 2015 fraction barrel-fermented. Dosage 7 g/l. Quite deep greenish straw. Fairly aggressive chew – seems not yet quite integrated. Very firm rather than hedonistic. Rather sudden finish. (JR)
