Score 93/100 · Drink 2016-2026, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Sep 2018

The 2011 Morgon Côte du Py is showing very well, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums, dark berries, rich loamy soil and baking chocolate. On the palate, it's full-bodied, supple and layered, with a juicy core of fruit, fine tannins and a long, savory finish. Readers with bottles in their cellars should begin pulling corks, though that counsel comes with no sense of urgency.

Bright violet color. Musky, aromas of dried cherry and blackberry accented by flowers and herbs. Chewy, dense, focused dark berry flavors are brightened by a spicy quality. Dusty tannins give shape and grip to the finish, which features a sneaky note of candied violet.

Juicy and satin textured with real substance and bone-dry finish. Very convincing. (JR)
