Tasting notes
The 1999 Clos des Truffiers is still a youthful ruby color, yet shows plenty of maturity in its chocolaty dark fruits, cured meats, wild herbs, truffle and spice-laced bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, supple, pure and elegant, this continued to freshen up in the glass, and should have no problems holding for another 5-7 years. Harvest here streatched into the second week of October, and as always, it was completely destemmed and aged all in barrel.

Saturated ruby. Pungent, vibrant aromas of violet, licorice and nut oil. High-pitched and tight in the mouth, with a flavor of crushed espresso bean and black licorice pastille. This rather reduced wine has taken up the oak quickly, and comes across as quite dry and in need of oxygen. But its great concentration suggests it will be strong.
