Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2006
Good deep red. Slightly jammy aromas of redcurrant, leather, smoke and earth. Then concentrated, sweet and surprisingly fresh in the mouth, with redcurrant fruit lifted by spices and minerals. Here the tannins are sweeter and arrive later, allowing the sweet fruit to expand. This mostly escapes the finishing dryness shown by most of these 2003 samples.
