(25- and 35-year-old vines; the vines here have the same exposure as those in Bressandes but are a bit higher on the hill) Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Bressandes. Ripe aromas of plum, raspberry, chocolate and smoke, with a note of peach. Even sweeter than the Bressandes, with a sensual texture. But good underlying minerality gives this wine noteworthy cut and finesse. Nicely delineated owing to its sound acidity. Finishes quite firm, but with the tannins coming late.

The 2002 Corton Clos du Roi reveals scents of raspberries, flowers, and cherries. Medium-bodied and pure, it is a slightly firmer wine than the Bressandes. Its flavor profile displays regal layers of red and black fruits intermingled with stones. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020. Importer: A Peter Vezan Selection, Paris fax #011-33-1-42-55-42-93

Good bright ruby-red. Fruit-driven, slightly exotic but refined aromas of plum, raspberry and licorice, with the same suggestion of peach I picked up in the 2001 Bressandes. More fruity and less minerally than the Bressandes (whereas it's the other way around with the 2001s), with a silky, lush texture and impressive density without excess weight. A broad, aromatic wine of noteworthy finesse and length on the aftertaste. Here, too, the tannins are quite fine.
